Secret Compartments
Dark. Deep in the secret compartment of the hidden drawer on the bottom floor where no one has gone, not even me, for a very long time.
I'd rather right the sunshine to replace the rain,
but the moisture is so natural and needed.
I open up little drawers and music boxes inside of me, especially the ones that had gotten creaky. They could use the exposure.
Love is more vast when I know me there.
There are human places that are terrified to share, brilliant menageries that go wildly unaware, gardens that wilt if they do not see the light of day.
I could capture stardust, whisper sonnets, and reach for higher ground.
But it's here, in the basement, where happiness is happening from getting a chance to be free.
