The Horizon
When the internet goes dark, I will have been happy to see your face again.
I will close my eyes sometimes to remember, and smile at all the nuance in the memory.
When my time has come, it will take me as it will.
I will face the sky with all the courage I can muster, while I take you with me in my heart, but nothing else.
I will breathe as though a realization -
That I have been breathing all along.
And even when my lungs stop inhaling,
I will give myself to the greatest breath of all, and smile as though everything was worth it.
And soon, we will wonder what all the fuss was about, as we exhale and become the horizon.
